The mountain is famous for having the largest and deepest caldera on the island of Java, with a diameter of up to 2 kilometers. Located in the Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, and Jember regions, Mount Raung offers amazing natural scenery, but also presents a difficult challenge for climbers. The roaring sound of its active crater is a distinctive feature and adds a mystical and majestic effect. ⚠️ Note: Climbing to the top of Raung Mountain is only recommended for experienced climbers as the meds are extreme and require special gear.
