After the Battle of Coastal Battery Ł, which ended with the Stinovanzackian banner flying above the battery and the surrounding territories, Stinovanzacka began breaking through Sladikian defenses with far greater ease than in previous campaigns. Despite late industrialization strengthening the Sladikian war effort, the front shifted constantly as miles of territory were lost. As the months passed, Stinovanzackian forces approached the Sladikian capital, Zinoviyklakrigrad. The city itself seemed within reach, but its defenses had been transformed into a fortress. The approaches and outskirts were covered in field guns, pillboxes, extensive trench networks, barbed wire, and minefields—a final display of Sladikian defiance. Following their usual doctrine, the Stinovanzackians attempted to gas the surrounding forests, bombard the defenses, and advance with infantry and tanks.
