Description
The Chaningford and Isberch Railway was once part of the Wider Bloxville and Main Line Railway linking the busy Port Town of Chaningford with the beautiful Sea Side town of Knitchester. The line provided Important frieght connections as well as a link to the Wedgeford Abbey Light Railway (Closed September 1935). When the Wedgeford Abbey Light Railway closed down the Chaningford and Isberch Railway started to decline in passenger numbers and frieght exports and in 1973, the Bloxville Main Line Railway Company closes the line. Only three years later (in 1976) the Chaningford and Isberch Railway was re-opened as a Heritage Line from Chaningford to Finehall, closely working with BMLR and running regular Steam and Diesel hauled services.
